In the reading of Michael Pollan he discusses if organic food is truly better than the food that is grown with chemicals and pesticides. I personally believe that organic food is better than the other food because I know that the food that I’m going to eat is grown by a farmer who uses natural fertilizers to grow his product and not use chemicals that will grow into the food and that will end up in my stomach. In addition to it not having chemicals in it I preferred organic food to other food because it is healthier like Michael Pollan said on pg. 720 that “organic ones consistently earn higher Brix scores (a measure of sugar) than the same varieties grown conventionally.” This makes the food have more sugar in it and have less water with in return gives it more flavor. Nevertheless there are many people who argue that they are organic and conventionally grown foods have the same quality; however it has turned out that to be a falls assumption. As I continued to read I found it interesting that there where tests as to how food quality differed depending on where it was grown. It turned out that different regions had either a higher or a lower vitamin count in their product than other regions. I found that to very informative because it didn’t know that there would have been such a difference in quality depending on where you grow the food. I found this article to be very informative.
